About Us

Our Clinic

The clinic is an early 20th-century renovated Cape Cod-style home, with beautiful wood floors, custom period finish work, and abundant natural lighting. The building sits on a large campus with updated landscaping. The clinic is a quiet and peaceful space, and we only see one appointment at a time. This allows Doctor Hunter to provide you with her full attention during your visit.

The clinic does not board nor hospitalize patients, so you will not experience the “background noise” you are used to hearing at other clinics. The practice walls are lined with shelves of highly researched specialty products including foods, supplements, and herbs.

We pride ourselves on creating a happy, comfortable, inviting space for you and your pet. We want everyone to be stress-free and happy to return, pets and owners alike. The clinic does offer full laboratory services such as bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology, and fecal, along with X-Ray services, however the clinic does not offer surgical procedures that require anesthesia such as dental, spays, or neuters. The clinic is intended to be a specialty outpatient facility only.

We look forward to meeting you and your pet!

Dr. Anja Hunter

Animal Wellness Veterinary Clinic was established in 2021 by its sole practitioner, Anja W. Hunter, DVM. Doctor Hunter has been practicing veterinarian medicine for over 28 years. Her extensive experience and training allow her to deliver an exceptional integrative approach to medicine that provides overall health, vitality and wellness for your pet. Doctor Hunter practices a range of holistic modalities including acupuncture, Western and Eastern herbal medicine, homeopathy, and she is also certified in natural nutrition. Her years in practice have taught her that a fully integrative medical approach combining both alternative and Western medicine is truly the best way to achieve a vital healthy outcome for your pet.
I have always been an animal lover. I have always had “a way with animals.” I majored in Zoology in college because I also love nature so I thought I wanted to work with wild animals. I discovered that I also love medicine and physiology so I became a veterinarian. I started in small animal practice, then moved to emergency room practice, then back to small animal practice but with some alternative medicine training. Over the past 25 years I have been expanding my education in the alternative medical modalities as I learn the strengths and weaknesses of each of them. I have learned that just one modality does not fit all, just as Western medicine does not fit all. — Dr. Hunter
